The Forest Fairy - Idrija Lace

The winter of 2014 saw crushing blizzards hit Slovenia and cover most of the country in four inches of ice, dismantling power lines and leaving hundreds of thousands without electricity or warmth in their homes. Many individuals were left stranded deep in the countryside without any contact with others for days, most notably a group of miners from the town of Idrija who were left to fend for themselves when their camp got snowed in. After shivering their way through three days on little food, they began to lose their sanity and it is said that just as they were approaching total despair. Several of the group encountered an odd spiritual being known to locals as Gozdna Vila – or in English: the forest fairy.

For centuries the townspeople of Idrija have spoken of mysterious encounters with this fairy; she is said to appear to those who are in the lowest form of health and her presence is famous for reinvigorating their minds and giving them hope. She glows a brilliant white and is a source of light for those in darkness.

A local woman, Vera Velikajne, created this impression of the Gozdna Vila using the special Idrija lace technique. The design, measuring two metres long, was formed by using white cotton thread and metal wires, so that the shape of a body is visible.

Photographer Matevž Kocjan captured her beauty while walking in the woods.

Homeless Man

Today's work - There is not much to say. Just inspired by a homeless man walking buy. He had no rush and no worries about his looks. The only thing he had in mind was "let's make it through another day"

Result - 100 % woollen jacket mixed with fur, to keep you worm during the coldest nights

Simplicity

Simplicity - A black dress made from a fabric with incorporated metallic fibers. The pattern was created in a way, to form little symmetrical shapes that would allow the metallic threads to shine even more. A reversible leather belt visually provides a possibility to explore different ways of wearing your dress.

The Lost Gardens

The Lost Gardens - These unique handmade tops were mixed with the beauty of nature. Big plants, small flowers and  little drops of rain, combined into a perfect story of textile, texture and text - visible as details on the dresses. Organic shapes and asymmetrical details talk about the unpredictability of our nature.

This was the perfect location to get lost in the beauty of making our story come true.

Collection - Fossils

The collection "Fossils" was inspired by ancient imprints that have withstood the ravages of time. Using crocheting techniques, I have brought organic forms and patterns back to life. Just like fossils, traditional handicrafts, such as crocheting, are precious gifts from the past that need to be appreciated and nourished.

Le ali della liberta'

Birds - Tails, wings, strong colours and patterns become a powerful symbol of influence. The male elements – ties, which were used in this collection - show strength, while living in a sensible and intuitive world of a woman. This is not a story about recycling old ties, but remembering our memories. Each tie has its story, which needs to be revitalized.

The collection is aimed at an urban woman who dares to stand out from the average. Her strong personality is shown through the way she walks, talks, thinks and wears her clothes. She is prepared to fly like a bird, fly on the wings of her imagination. Symbolically she looks from a bird’s perspective, from above, which gives her an overlook of what is hidden in our society.

Tail, wings and strong colours gives her determination, audacity and coordination between the male and female principles. At times, she can be fragile as a feather, but when she unfold her wings…she becomes proud and strong character.

Male elements symbolize power, strength and realism, while female’s show intuitiveness, sensuality and creativity.

Fashion is seeing ahead, explore and search for new ideas. When I was creating this Spring-Summer collection, I entered in a state where I wanted to highlight the elegance and beauty of a women’s body. I completely devoted my days to sewing, creativity, flow of thoughts and ideas…to complete a collection that could inspire transformation.

Bakuhatsu / Explosion

Everything begins from an explosion: light, energy, life… Light is needed for the development of all forms of life and ideas. This is a result from a rapid and violent release of energy. Bakuhatsu, which in Japanese means explosion, became my inspiration for this Fall-Winter collection. Solar explosions, supernovas, explosions of stars and the consequences which arise after these huge bangs, appear on the body with unusual and irregular shapes.

Developing asymmetric shapes with different materials was a “must do”. For this project I created a black and silver jacquard and used artificial materials integrated with copper threads, so that I could create new 3D shapes and mix them with other materials (silk, chiffon, cotton).

The colours I used are the ones that appear in our telescopes while looking at the universe - black, purple, red, silver and gold.

Sensitivity, strength and energy where transmitted through sewing. All these new factors were involved in every detail of the collection, from the dresses to the shoes I made.

It is important to be aware of how the universe affects us and our surroundings. A single explosion can cause a new source of life and emerge new ideas.
